Ed Hardy by Christian Audigier -- Launches OmniPeace Collection

New OmniPeace Collection launched with
Ed Hardy by Christian Audigier

OmniPeace, founded by Mary Fanaro, a charitable organization that donates 25% of its profits to charities supporting peace, education, human rights, and the end of extreme poverty in Africa by 2025.

You have seen the fashion icon t-shirts sported by many celebrities who are supporting a worthy cause by wearing these shirts. The shirts have a logo printed on the front that displays the peace sign with the shape of the continent of Africa.

Now, from the original tattoo artwork of Don Ed Hardy, Christian Audigier strategically integrates iconic graphics within the OminiPeace African continent logo, and the symbol of peace displays vibrant floral imagery. This high-end humanitarian collection offers three distinct styles for women, and one for men.

By purchasing an Ed Hardy/OmniPeace product, 25% of the profits will be donated to build schools in Africa with buildOn and Millennium Promise.

"In these times it is important to stand for something more than fashion itself," Christian Audigier said. "Mary Fanaro, the OmniPeace CEO poses a poignant question, Can you think of a better return in life than saving one?"

This new OmniPeace Collection will debut at the Las Vegas Convention Center, September 1st - 3rd Booth #23417.

The video below is an interview with Casey Affleck who proudly displays the OmniPeace Logo t-shirt. He also explains a little about the worthy cause.

Makeup Habits -- How are they doing during a Recession?

L'Oreal Reveals Beauty Habits in the Face of Recession

L'Oreal commissioned an international usage survey to research how women's makeup habits are adapting in response to the recession. They were surprised with the findings. The Beauty Barometer survey asked 4,000 women in the U.S. and four European countries about their cosmetic products and usage.

Survey highlights include:
--- Nearly half of U.S. women surveyed believe wearing makeup gives them an advantage at work and makes them feel more in control.
--- Four out of 10 U.S. women are wearing more neutral shades and a more natural makeup style than before the recession.
--- The majority of women surveyed believe wearing makeup makes them feel more self confident, and even more believe that wearing makeup improves their self image.
--- Nine out of ten women in U.S. and Europe reported no change in makeup usage despite the economic crisis.

It looks as though women are still buying products but I wonder what type of products? I know myself, I still buy beauty products, but I may not be buying the same products I bought two years ago. I have no problem in buying another brand (or generic) if it is on sale or offered for less money. If I find a product that works and outshines the rest I will continue to purchase that product no matter how much it cost; however, my other beauty products may take a back seat.

Are you buying the same beauty products you bought two years ago or am I the only one searching the beauty isles for sales?

Swimsuit Deals Online -- Save Big!

End of Summer Swimsuit Deals

I once read, the best time to buy a swimsuit is in the months of August and May. With that in mind, I did my shopping due diligence and surfed the net over and over to find descent swimsuit deals. Wow, I was right, August is truly the month for cheap suits.
Deals, Deals, Deals
SwimOutlet.com You will need to go to the clearance corner for their sales on suits. This website offers a variety of beach swimwear along with competitive swimsuits and gear. The price range was $14.00 and up.
Venus.com Click on their Sales tab to find a variety of one and two piece suits with prices ranging from $9.00 in upwards of $40.00. They also have additional sales in the Swim Clearance section.

VictoriasSecret.com This is the granddaddy of a swimsuit sale. You will need to act fast as this sale will end on Sunday, August 29, 2009. They are offering an additional 40% off of already marked down suits (limited suits). You will need to add the promo code: SWIMCLEAR at checkout. I went ahead and completed a mock purchase for a bikini that was priced at $4.99 per piece (lowest priced suit offered) and applied the promo code to give me a total purchase (suit only) for $5.98. Wow!!!!!
Everythingbutwater.com This is a really cool site for those of you that are wanting to purchase name brand suits at a lower cost. I love their suits as they are so colorful and sexy. Suits have been marked down to $24.99 per piece from upwards of $100 per piece.
***If you were unable to take advantage of the August deals then you might want to check out Swimsuits for all.  This is another online store that offers great deals for all sizes all year long.  Check them out:  "One Piece Swimsuits"

Tonka Beans -- Educates Women on Money and Investing Matters for FREE

Tonka Beans Launches its Free Internet Video Series
and Social Networking Web Site to
Entertain and Educate Women on Money
and Investing Matters

Educating women on money matters has become a priority for a new web site, Tonka Beans, as they are offering women ages 23-45, a free video series to entertain and educate in regards to investing matters.

The videos simplify money matters and make them relevant to the needs of women. Through interviews and profiles, the videos expose women's money-related concerns while also educating and putting into practice sound financial planning principles.

"Statistics show that about 1 in 10 women actively invests. That critical fact combined with current social trends like high divorce rates becomes alarming when you think about how many women will retire 30 years from now," states Zina Spezakis, CEO of Tonka Beans. She continues to state, "More than ever, it's critical that women buy into the fact that they need to become more savvy with their money. The money-management information, like any good product, has to be relevant to its audience. It's up to us finance insiders to make that information accessible and relevant to women."

Not only does the site offer free videos for women but it is also a social networking platform where women can share their personal money-related stories and get advice and opinions from registered "Opinion Makers".

Just out of curiosity, I went ahead and checked out this website. The videos are very informative and easy to watch. As a women, I do believe that it is very important to obtain all the financial education you can. This site is offering a wide range of information for FREE and as I have stated before, "If it is free, it is for me".

Provided below is a video from Tonka Beans in regards to interviewing women on the street. Check it out as you just might like it or learn something.

  • Juicy Couture Perfume by Juicy Couture:  She states this perfume has a "sweet by sassy citrus floral scent" and has always gotten rave reviews.  Also, it appears it comes with a bonus:  a necklace.
  • Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel:  Nicole states this fragrance is Sexy, Young and has stood the test of time.  It defiantly demands the attention of the room.
  • Burberry Brit by Burberry:  According to Nicole, this scent has oriental-inspired ingredients with a hint of Italian lime notes.  She claims, "It is sugar and spice, with everything nice."
  • Lolita Lempicka by Lolita Lempicka:  This scent has hints of floral and vanilla as you will be sure to stand out in a crowd.  This perfume was a winner for Nicole as she was hooked the moment she smelled the perfume.  She states it is "Delightfully unexpected and not for the average girl".

Miss Universe Contestants Tackle HIV

Miss Universe Contestants
Enter Condom Olympics to Tackle HIV

The Miss Universe contestants are on their way to Sunday night's pageant as they entered the Condom Olympics to spread the word of HIV infection. The contestants competed in the Condom Olympics by tossing water-filled condoms to test their strength and playing "Wild Fire Infection" games that demonstrate the serious side of HIV infection.

PSI (Population Services International), a global health organization partnered with the Miss Universe Organization for an educational workshop demonstrated by the Condom Olympics. The event was aimed at inspiring contestants to use their celebrity to spread positive messages about HIV prevention around the world.

The winning contestant, after the pageant, will have the opportunity to become an Ambassador of PSI's HIV prevention and education program YouthAIDS. Miss Universe 2008, Dayana Mendoza, used her platform to champion the cause among women, who continue to be disproportionately affected by the disease.

Another game played was one which peer educators gave each girl a piece of paper and asked them to solicit signatures from the other contestants. Each signature represented represented an act of sex. Some girls agreed to only share their card with one other person, while others chose not to share their cards at all. After the activity, the girls were told that some of them had been "HIV positive" at the start of the game. Then they tracked, through their signatures, how far the infection had spread. Those who "abstained" or chose to only have one "partner" found out they had remained "HIV negative".

Fake Profile Pictures on Dating Sites

Online Dating Profile Pictures -- Are they Fake?

Did the thought ever cross your mind that the picture you are viewing really is not the person you are about to meet? Over 80% of online daters have suspected that the profile images being used online are fakes and over a third have actually discovered that a person's identity does not match that of their online persona.

Yes, there are people out there that are using fake pictures and lying about their age, job or marital status.

For those of us who are wondering is this the real thing and how do I check it out? There is now a website called www.checkedprofile.com that is the first online photo verification system aimed at everyone who uses online dating web sites and social media. It is FREE for women (very cool) and $1.99 for men for the basic package.

Founder Ben Way states, "Up until now, people have been able to hide behind online identities and claim to be someone they are not. Just as we wouldn't accept this in the real world, we shouldn't have to accept this online. I want social networks and dating sites to give their users the option of having their identity verified, this will reduce the risk to their users; I have been horrified by some of the stories out there, and it's one of the reasons why I made the service free to women."

How does it work?
1. You upload the profile picture that you would like to be verified
2. The site gives you a unique code
3. Take another picture of yourself holding the unique code (akin to holding up a copy of today's newspaper)
4. One of CheckedProfile.com's experts immediately check that both images are the same person
5. If successful, you are given a unique stamp which you can upload onto any website (not just dating specific, e.g. Facebook, Twitter etc.)

The 80's Says Goodbye to John Hughes

High school would not have been the same without the Brat Pack films from John Hughes. I so remember going to the theaters to watch, "The Breakfast Club", "Sixteen Candles", and "Pretty and Pink". Hughes had a knack for capturing the "teens way of life" or the high school years in the 80's. In fact, I remember playing "The Breakfast Club" at one of my parties during high school once the video was released (yes I did say video as DVD's were not even a thought). Of course, I can not forget the granddaddy of them all, "Ferris Bueller's Day Off", that made everyone one of us teens wonder if we could get away with skipping school for a day the Ferris way.

John Hughes is also responsible for the "Home Alone" movies in the 90's with Macaulay Culkin, that kept everyone laughing and coming back for more. During the Christmas season my family always watches the first "Home Alone" movie and "Christmas Vacation", which was written by John Hughes.

Hughes died suddenly of a heart attack, Thursday, August 6th, at the age of 59.  He will be missed, however, his legend of the 80's teen/high school movies will live on. Below are some video clips of his movies, Enjoy!
